Endurance + Stamina + Strength = A Fitter You!

Building a better workout means focusing on endurance, stamina and strength. These three factors are all connected, and to increase one, you have to work on the other two. Want some ideas on how to take your workout to the next level? Here are three tips that will increase your endurance and stamina, while building strength.

1. Mix It Up—By combining your strength training with cardio exercises you move more muscles and challenge your heart rate. The end result? A stronger cardiovascular system that can work out longer and harder.
2. Rest Less—When you are looking to increase endurance and stamina, breaks are not your friend. Only rest if you simply can’t go on, otherwise, time for another rep!
3. Multiple Movements—Propel your fitness level forward by incorporating hybrid movements, say a squat with an overhead press. This kind of combination move will work more muscles at one time, thereby increasing your heart rate and improving your overall stamina.

How do you know if you really are gaining stamina and endurance? Track your improvement by noting your target exercise heart rate. Keep track of your heart rate when you first start working on improving your stamina and endurance. Plan to exercise for at least 30 minutes a day for one month. At the end of that time, monitor your heart rate to determine if you have improved.

Keep increasing the intensity and duration of your workouts if you notice an improvement in your heart rate. It is crucial to mix up your routines, varying low-intensity workouts with high-intensity ones keep your mind and body guessing. Moving your muscles in different ways will help prevent overuse, plus changing your routine is essential to building endurance, stamina and strength.
