Combating Holiday Stress

While the season of joy can be a happy one, the weeks between Thanksgiving and the New Year can be stressful as well. There are ways to keep your stress levels down, however, with just a little preparation and awareness.

Have a Plan
Want to avoid feeling overwhelmed? Plan specific days for your holiday activities—from shopping to cooking to decorating. Make lists of what you need for each event so you aren’t scrambling at the last minute.

Stay Healthy
You may be tempted to stray from your regular eating and exercise habits during the holidays. But deviating from these will only add to your stress (and guilt!). Sure you can enjoy the season’s special treats, but remember—everything in moderation!

Don’t be a “Yes” Man (or Woman)
You can say no during the holidays. Friends and co-workers will understand if you have to bow out of a few special events, especially if they conflict with family activities. Doing more than you have the time or energy for is another way to add to your holiday stress level.

Take Your “Me” Time
We think so much of others during the holidays, it can be easy to neglect our own needs. Set aside some time just for you to refresh. A massage or facial is a great way to do something for yourself that will leave you rejuvenated and ready to tackle that next holiday to-do list! A Hot Stone Envy ™ massage is perfect for melting away tension and promoting deeper relaxation of the muscles, while any of Massage Envy’s four types of facials will leave your skin hydrated and radiant.
